Princess Party

We were supposed to make things easier this year by hosting a combined birthday party for Sierra and Ally. HA! If you've been reading the last couple of posts, you've seen that we've done nothing but party for a week straight. The "official" party was on Sunday afternoon. It was a princess theme with all the bells and whistles. Grandpa and Grandma Cook were there, as were Uncle Chuck & Aunt Missy and Uncle Benjy, Aunt Susie and Annie.

The party started with a game of Princess Trivia. We were surprised at how well everyone knew their princess facts! Sierra enjoyed being the official judge of right and wrong answers. Then we had a treasure hunt. I had hidden jewels and foam tiaras all over the cabin. Annie won that game...but we think that Uncle Benjy may have been giving her an unfair advantage. Next it was on to a game of Kiss the Frog - think Pin the Tail on the Donkey, princess style. Finally, we had everyone decorate magic wands with glitter glue, plastic gems and shiny ribbons. Thanks to all the grown-ups who cooperated with our silly games. It was fun!!!

After the gifts, we sent the girls outside to play in a cool princess pool while we grilled the steaks and made the rest of the dinner. I had found this pool in a Shopko ad a few weeks before the birthday party and thought that it looked like fun. IT WAS! The aunts and uncles had to leave after the cake and ice-cream to get back to the valley for another work week. It was a great day - but maybe we'll just do two parties next year instead of three!
